Nancy and Keri
“My name is Keri, and I’m writing to you today with a heart full of gratitude and a story that is deeply personal. My mother, Nancy, was a resident at Seacrest Village, and the care and love she received from the community forever changed our lives.
Before moving to Seacrest, my mom lived with us—me, my husband, and our two young daughters—for six years. She lived on Social Security and faced growing health challenges, and while we did everything we could to keep her comfortable and included, she often felt isolated and lonely. My mom desperately needed the socialization and community we simply couldn’t provide while juggling full-time work and raising two young daughters. Even with the help of Seacrest at Home, we knew it wasn’t enough. Her Seacrest at Home caregiver, Debra, was a lifeline for us, and we built such a strong relationship that even after Mom moved to Seacrest, Debra remained close to our family.
In 2018, we were blessed to learn that my mom could move to Seacrest Village with significant help from the Resident Assistance Fund. It was truly a miracle for all of us. At Seacrest, my mom became part of a vibrant, supportive community that embraced her with open arms. She finally had the social connections she longed for, and we were relieved knowing she was in a safe, loving environment.
Seacrest wasn’t just a place for my mom—it became her true home. We celebrated holidays like Chanukah and birthdays surrounded by new friends and a compassionate staff who treated her like family. Even as her health declined and she needed skilled nursing care, Seacrest made sure she could stay in the community she loved.
One special memory I hold close is from my daughter’s bat mitzvah. Debra, my mom’s former caregiver from Seacrest at Home, helped Mom get ready, while we were at home preparing ourselves and our girls, brought Mom from Seacrest to the celebration, and stayed by her side during the event. Having someone there who understood her needs allowed us to enjoy the day with peace of mind. It was the last big family simcha Mom attended, and having Debra there with us made it even more special.
This Chanukah, I ask you to join me in honoring the memory of someone you love by supporting the residents of Seacrest Village and the clients of Seacrest at Home who are in need.
Your generosity ensures that seniors like my mother, who may not have the financial means to provide for their care, can live with dignity, respect, and love. As we light the menorah, let us remember those who need our help to experience the same light and hope that my mom found at Seacrest. Your gift of $2,500, $1,800, $1,000, $360, $180, $18, or any amount will make a profound difference in the lives of those in need. And this year, your support will have twice the impact.
Please help Seacrest continue to provide loving care to those who need it most. Your support ensures that our elders—our parents and grandparents—can live in peace, surrounded by the care and kindness they deserve.
Thank you for being a beacon of hope for families like mine.
With deep gratitude,” ~ Keri, 2024
“P.S. Please send hope to someone in need. There is no greater gift; there is no greater mitzvah.”
This year, Hanna & Mark Gleiberman have generously committed to matching the first $50,000 in contributions during the Chanukah season. The Gleibermans have witnessed firsthand the profound impact Seacrest has had on our community. With family members who have lived, worked, and volunteered at Seacrest, their involvement has been longstanding and meaningful. We invite you to join them in giving as generously as possible, helping us continue to provide care and support to families like Keri’s, and many others in need.
Like Keri, you can make a difference for future residents by considering a gift to Seacrest Foundation through your estate planning. Contact Robin Israel at (760) 516-2018 or risrael@seacrestfoundation.org to learn more.
