“My connection to Seacrest began with my uncle, Stephen J. Cohen z”l. When I moved to San Diego in the mid-1990s, I quickly learned how much Seacrest meant to him. He had helped steward the organization’s growth and supported and mentored its leadership for many years. He believed deeply in its mission and in caring for the older adults in our community. My own connection became personal when I attended the groundbreaking of Mel’s Place in 1998.
Over the years, Seacrest has been part of my life in so many different ways. I’ve been a newsletter reader, an event attendee, a volunteer, a family member visiting loved ones, and eventually a Seacrest Foundation Board member. Today, I have the honor of serving as President of the Seacrest Foundation Board.
With every experience, Seacrest has earned an even more special place in my heart. When I walk the halls and see the names of those who came before us, I think about my uncle and the people who cared so deeply about ensuring that Seacrest would always be here for our community. I still hear his words of encouragement, and I know how proud he would be of what Seacrest has become.
That is why including Seacrest Foundation in my legacy plans feels so meaningful to me. It is an opportunity to honor what my uncle helped build while helping ensure that future generations will have the same extraordinary community, compassion, and care.
For me, that is l’dor v’dor—from generation to generation.”
