2023 31st Annual Seacrest Foundation Golf, Tennis, and Pickleball Day Raises Over $166,000 for Seacrest Village Residents in Need
Guardians of San Diego’s 31st Annual Golf, Tennis, Pickleball & Spa Day presented by Seacrest Foundation, with presenting sponsor, William Gumpert Foundation, raised over $166,000. Proceeds from “Take a Swing for Seniors” held October 16th will benefit the Resident Assistance Fund of Seacrest Village.
Seacrest Foundation hosted over 140 golfers, tennis players, pickleball players and spa goers at Monday’s event at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort and Golf Club in Carlsbad, as well as dozens of additional attendees for the reception and awards ceremony. Aviara Golf Club is San Diego’s only golf course designed by Arnold Palmer. The golf tournament began at noon with a shotgun start on the beautiful course, and the tennis and pickleball players started later in the afternoon with all tournament play ending with a cocktail reception. All players enjoyed a variety of snacks and refreshments throughout the day, including a margarita station, and beverages generously donated by Crest Beverage and Cutwater Spirits.
The all-day event started with a delicious buffet lunch and included a raffle drawing with a $1,000 first prize, a “wine putt” activity, where guests pay $30 to putt towards bottles of wine valued from $30-$300, and an exciting online auction. Hot items in the auction included golf at the Grand Del Mar, Hillcrest Country Club, The Crosby, and Morgan Run, along with a staycation at Park Hyatt Aviara, beauty packages, jewelry, and fun experiences all over San Diego. Following the tournaments, all players and guests congregated at the Golf Club for an outdoor cocktail reception, dinner, and awards ceremony.
The first-place golf tournament foursome included Rick Simons, Alan Saxe, Bruce Altshuler, and Brett Sidell. First place tennis players were Kim Stromberg and Steven Kavy, and first place pickleball players were Bonnie Foster and Brian Geffen. Each of the individuals above will get their names engraved on the perpetual trophy housed at Seacrest Foundation. The raffle had four lucky winners: Peter Stovin, Mike Bennett, Sharon Wax, and Marty Ehrlich.
This year’s committee was led by chair, Robert Haimsohn, and included members Earl Altshuler, Cindy Bloch, Devin Chodorow, Marty Ehrlich, Mary Epsten, Drew Ferris, Noah Mazur, and Larry Weitzen.
“Charitable care is assistance for those whose savings have been depleted due to illness or injury and for those who may have no one to turn to for help,” said tournament Chair and Seacrest Foundation Board Member, Robert Haimsohn. “Requests from Seacrest Village for charitable care exceed nearly 2.5 million dollars annually, and thanks to all of the dedicated players and supporters in our tournament, we have been able to secure over $166,000 to help Seacrest Village support this need.”
Guardians of San Diego recognizes the following additional top sponsors: Elissa & Dr. Gary Davis, Lisa & Gary Levine, Gallagher, Guild Mortgage, Shallan Geffen Meronoff Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, Sheava & Bryan Wax, Sid’s Carpet Barn, Inc., The Fiorica Law Firm, PC, and Bonnie Foster Productions.
